"Reese Witherspoon confirms 'Big Little Lies' Season 3 is in the works with the original author back on board."

Reese Witherspoon has revealed more details about the highly anticipated Season 3 of *Big Little Lies*. Speaking to *E! News* at Hello Sunshine's second annual Shine Away conference, the actress shared that both she and Nicole Kidman have been eagerly waiting for new material from Liane Moriarty, the bestselling author of the original novel.

"We're waiting on Liane Moriarty. She's going to be turning in something very soon," Witherspoon, 48, said. "We're back to the original author, and we're going to revisit the original characters." She also hinted that the storyline may evolve with the children being older, though she hasn’t seen the new script yet.

Both Witherspoon and Kidman have previously confirmed that a third season of the Emmy-winning HBO drama is in the works. Kidman, 57, mentioned in November that Season 3 was happening and has been in regular contact with Witherspoon about it. "There's a timeline, and we're doing it," Kidman said.

During a Vanity Fair discussion in June, Kidman confirmed that the new season is progressing rapidly, though she advised caution about revealing too much too soon. “We need to shut up,” she joked, emphasizing the importance of completing the work before discussing it.

The first season of *Big Little Lies*, which premiered in 2017, captivated audiences with its intense plot centered on a mysterious murder involving a group of women, played by Witherspoon, Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Zoë Kravitz, and Laura Dern. Although initially intended as a limited series, the overwhelming success led to a second season in 2019, with Meryl Streep joining the cast.

Co-stars Dern and Woodley have also expressed enthusiasm for a third season, hoping to reunite with the cast and characters they love so much.
